This distinction arises from the inclusion of the deuterocanonical books, also known as the Apocrypha according to Protestant terminology. Additionally, the Catholic canon of Old Testament texts is more extensive than that of Protestant translations, which primarily rely on the shorter Hebrew and Aramaic Masoretic Text. However, it has a shorter canon compared to certain Eastern and Oriental Orthodox churches, which recognize additional books as sacred scripture.
