The Catholic Bible encompasses books from both the Old Testament and New Testament, including several books that are excluded in Protestant Bibles. It is through these various Roman Catholic Bible translations that we can delve into the rich history and specific characteristics of our Catholic faith. Among the most popular Catholic Bibles is the New American Bible (NAB), which has gained widespread acclaim. Other notable translations include the Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition (RSV-CE), the Douay-Rheims (the earliest translation from the original Latin), and the Navarre Bible.

In the Catholic tradition, the Bible differs from the versions commonly used by Protestants in terms of both the number and order of books. This distinction arises from the inclusion of the deuterocanonical books, also known as the Apocrypha according to Protestant terminology. Additionally, the Catholic canon of Old Testament texts is more extensive than that of Protestant translations, which primarily rely on the shorter Hebrew and Aramaic Masoretic Text. However, it has a shorter canon compared to certain Eastern and Oriental Orthodox churches, which recognize additional books as sacred scripture.
